Day 1 Auckland, Bay of Islands
Departing from the Skycity Hotel we cross Auckland’s busy Harbour Bridge and travel along the Hibiscus Coast to Matakohe. Home to a boutique museum with displays centred on early New Zealand pioneering history, the magnificent Kauri tree, its timber and gum. Driving from west to east, we visit Whangarei and view the town viaduct with its colonial villa-style retail and restaurant complex. Continue north to the beautiful Bay of Islands, the cradle of European settlement in New Zealand. On arrival, we visit the historic Waitangi Reserve where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. View the historic Waitangi Treaty House and its beautiful gardens and the Maori Meeting House. Two Night Stay: Bay of Islands, Paihia Pacific Resort.
Day 2 Bay of Islands, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Today you have the opportunity to choose from the many activities on offer in this National Maritime Park. Experience a day trip to Cape Reinga, the far northern tip of New Zealand. Perhaps you could explore the arts and crafts of the region on a tour of the Kerikeri basin, or take a short ferry ride across the harbour to Russell. Whatever you decide to do, APT will include it
Day 3 Bay of Islands, Auckland
Today explore New Zealand’s finest National Maritime Park on a catamaran cruise to Cape Brett and the famous Hole in the Rock. Sail through game fishing waters then make passage through the Hole (sea conditions permitting). Meander through the inner islands and visit beautiful Urupukapuka Island, the largest island in the Bay of Islands. Of considerable historic importance, Urupukapuka Island possesses 66 heritage sites dating from Maori times to early European settlement. Returning to Paihia, we board our coach bound for Auckland, where upon arrival your tour concludes and a departure transfer to the airport is included.
- Cross Auckland's Harbour Bridge and drive north along the Hibiscus Coast to the amazing Bay of Islands, where you will experience a great variety of activities, sights and Maori Culture.
