Auckland - Auckland to Coromandel Peninsula - Lakes Resort Coromandel - Coromandel Peninsula to Taupo - Wairakei Resort Taupo - Depart Taupo or Auckland
Arrive Auckland and collect your rental car upon arrival. Travel along the motorway into downtown Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy all the activities and shopping on offer.
Start this morning with a leisurely drive south over the Bombay Hills to the Coromandel Peninsula. The Coromandel offers some of the most pristine native forest in New Zealand along with an abundance of scenic landscapes, including Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. Explore this remarkable Peninsula by sea kayak or take the glass bottom boat out to the marine reserve.
This morning tee off at the newly opened Lakes Resort Pauanui. Wetlands, native bush (including the exotic cabbage trees rarely seen on a New Zealand golf course) and nicely positioned white-sand bunkers combine to create a layout that is truly unique in New Zealand. This afternoon take a drive up the coast to Hot Water Beach where you can dig a hole in the sand for thermal heated water.
Take your time this morning travelling over to Rotorua, the centre of New Zealand’s most active geothermal areas, geysers, bubbling mud pools and steaming pathways make this a must stop location. Enjoy the afternoon here before travelling onto Taupo, just under an hours drive.
Tee off today at Wairakei International Golf Course at Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s original golf resort built in 1970. Recent upgrades to the course have maintained its consistent status as one of New Zealand’s finest places to play. The remainder of the day is free to take in the many activities and sights of the largest lake in New Zealand or visit the many thermal fields between Taupo and Rotorua.
An early start this morning to return to Auckland in time to return your rental car and your onward journey.
